World-KIMWA Hawaii Chapter Officially Launched, Beginning Active Participation Through the World Conference
The World Federation of Korean Inter-Married Women's Associations (World-KIMWA), an international organization dedicated to protecting the rights of Korean inter-married women and strengthening their identity worldwide, has officially established its Hawaii Chapter. The newly formed chapter also marked the beginning of its activities by participating in the World-KIMWA World Conference held in Korea.
Hawaii Chapter Lays the Foundation for Empowering Korean Women
The World-KIMWA Hawaii Chapter officially held its inaugural ceremony on September 26, 2025.
Moon Jeom-hee, the founding President of the Hawaii Chapter, stated that the chapter's mission is "to strengthen and advance the identity and status of Korean inter-married women living in Hawaii."
President Moon also shared the chapter's future vision, which includes strengthening unity among Korean inter-married women in Hawaii, promoting Korean culture, and supporting educational and mentoring programs for students from multicultural families.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Chairwoman Young In Young and eight founding members, who pledged their commitment to serving the local community through volunteerism and meaningful outreach activities.
19th World-KIMWA World Conference Successfully Held with Participation from the Hawaii Chapter
Approximately one month after its official launch, the World-KIMWA Hawaii Chapter participated in the 19th World-KIMWA World Conference, held in Incheon, Korea, from October 28 to 31, 2025. The conference, led by President Sara Park, brought together approximately 150 participants, including 120 Korean inter-married women from around the world.
During the opening ceremony, President Sara Park welcomed the participants by describing Korean inter-married women as "civilian ambassadors connecting their countries of residence with the Republic of Korea." She encouraged members to strengthen their friendships, support one another, and continue building a strong global network.
Senior Advisor Yae Ja Kim referred to Korean inter-married women as "pioneers and trailblazers," recognizing their dedication and the important role they play in connecting communities across borders.
As part of its commitment to social responsibility, World-KIMWA presented a donation to the Korean Association of Koryoin and awarded scholarships to three students from multicultural families, demonstrating its continued support for education and community service.
General Assembly Elects New President and Hawaii Chapter Shares Its Vision
On the second day of the conference, Moon Jeom-hee, President of the Hawaii Chapter, expressed the chapter's commitment to actively supporting the organization's mission.
"Through active participation and community service, the Hawaii Chapter will work together with World-KIMWA to achieve its vision and strengthen our global network," she said.
During the General Assembly, Soon Bok Kim, President of the Germany Chapter, was elected as the 10th President of World-KIMWA.
In her acceptance speech, President Kim stated,
"Together, not alone, we will continue to lead the growth and development of World-KIMWA through unity, cooperation, and shared commitment."
On the final day, participants enjoyed a city tour of Incheon, and World-KIMWA signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with three organizations, further expanding its international network and partnerships.
The conference concluded with a fellowship evening, where members celebrated their friendships and pledged to meet again next year before returning to their respective countries.
Founded in 2006, World-KIMWA has grown into a global network representing approximately 500,000 Korean inter-married women worldwide, promoting friendship, leadership, cultural exchange, and community service while strengthening the global Korean community.
